Ellie Rutherford earns spot on NFHCA Division I Senior Team

Michigan State University senior Ellie Rutherford has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Team. Rutherford, hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, joins a list of 38 senior student-athletes recognized for their collegiate achievements.

The NFHCA honors these seniors for their contributions both on and off the field. Each athlete will receive an engraved award and be featured in a highlight video. Michigan State head coach Helen Knull expressed her pride, stating, "I'm delighted for Ellie. She has proven to be a top player in our league and a mainstay for our program in the midfield."

Rutherford completed her fourth season with the Spartans, participating in 66 games. In her final season, she matched or exceeded her personal bests with four goals, seven assists, and 15 points. She led the team in assists and was second in points during this period. Over her college career at MSU, she scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Rutherford is expected to be named to the NFCHA Division I National Academic Squad for the third time. She has also received Academic All-Big Ten honors throughout her eligibility years while maintaining a GPA of 3.674 as a Management major.

The complete list of members of the NFHCA Division I Senior Team includes athletes from various institutions such as American University, Boston University, Brown University, among others.
