Michigan State freshman Shane Vansaghi has been recognized as the Big Ten Third Star of the Week. This accolade follows his notable performance against Notre Dame at Munn Arena last weekend, where he contributed a total of four points. During the two-game series, Vansaghi recorded two assists on Friday and added a goal and an assist on Saturday.
Vansaghi has consistently performed well, being the only Michigan State player to score in all four Big Ten games this season. He has accumulated eight points over the last six contests and is among the youngest players in college hockey this year. His efforts have made him eligible for the 2025 NHL draft.
The Spartans are set to play against Vansaghi's former team, the US National Team Development Program, in Plymouth, Michigan on Thursday. The Spartan roster includes five alumni from this program. Additionally, Adam Nightingale previously served as head coach for Team USA from 2020 to 2022, with Will Morlock working as a strength coach during that period.
