The 1974-75 Michigan State hockey team, under the guidance of Head Coach Amo Bessone, completed their season with an overall record of 22 wins, 17 losses, and 1 tie. In the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), they achieved a record of 19 wins, 12 losses, and 1 tie, finishing in fifth place.

This season marked the team's first at Munn Ice Arena. The roster included notable players such as Steve Colp, Daryl Rice, Jim LaPointe, Paul Pavelich, Dennis Olmstead, Darl Bolton, Ron Clark, Tom Ross, and John Sturges. The coaching staff featured Assistant Coach Alex Terpay and Trainer Gayle Robinson.

Throughout the season, Michigan State faced various opponents including Laurentian University on October 25th and 26th where they recorded a loss and a win respectively. They played against Minnesota on November 1st and 2nd with one overtime loss and one win. Their performance against Michigan Tech on November 8th and 9th resulted in two victories.

The team also competed against North Dakota in mid-November securing two wins. However, they faced challenges against Wisconsin later that month with two consecutive losses. December saw mixed results with victories over Notre Dame but a loss to Bowling Green.

As the new year began, Michigan State continued to compete vigorously. Notable matches included wins against Denver in January but losses to Colorado College earlier that month. In February and March, the team had varied success against teams like Notre Dame and Wisconsin but struggled during WCHA playoffs against Michigan Tech.
