Michigan State Athletics, in collaboration with PNC Bank, has announced the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month for the 2024-25 season. This initiative highlights Spartan student-athletes who excel in academics, athletics, and community service.

The first honorees are Cookie Baugh from the cross country team and Nathan Carter from the football team.

Cookie Baugh is a junior on the women's cross country team and is expected to receive Academic All-Big Ten honors for a second consecutive year. Her community involvement includes volunteering at various events such as the Lansing Learning Hub Lunch & Learn Panel and the Elementary School Crazy Fun Run. She also co-leads the Student-Athlete Kindness Committee. Brianne Wojciakowski, Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development, stated, "Cookie always puts in extra effort to contribute to both campus life and the community."

Nathan Carter is in his second season with Michigan State after transferring in January 2023. He led his team in rushing last season with 798 yards and continues to perform well this fall with 418 yards and three touchdowns so far. Academically, he is pursuing a major in human development and family studies while also being active in volunteer work at places like Ronald McDonald House. Mandy Chandler, Director of Academic Services/Head Football Academic Coordinator said, "Nathan is an excellent example of how one can excel as a student and an athlete."

Both athletes have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities both on and off their respective fields.
