Michigan State women's tennis competes in Michigan State Classic

Michigan State University's women's tennis team continued their participation in the Michigan State Classic, sponsored by Auto-Owners Insurance, at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center. Junior players Issey Purser and Matilde Morais, freshman Amara Brahmbhatt, and redshirt sophomore Natalie Stasney represented the Spartans in both doubles and singles matches during the second day of the three-day event.

Issey Purser secured a victory with a swift 6-3, 6-4 win against Northwestern's Jennifer Riester. Freshman Amara Brahmbhatt also triumphed over Katya Shepard Johnson from Northwestern with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Matilde Morais engaged in a challenging match against Notre Dame's Ryle Hanford but ultimately lost 4-6, 7-6(1), 3-6. Similarly, Natalie Stasney faced Ester Vyrlan from Notre Dame and was defeated with scores of 5-7, 6-3, 2-6.

In doubles play, both pairs consisting of Morais/Purser and Brahmbhatt/Stasney concluded the day without victories. Morais and Purser competed against Sartz-Lunde/Bernales from Michigan and Pendergast/Flowers from Xavier. Meanwhile, Brahmbhatt and Stasney played against Sheinin/Bruno from Michigan.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday with doubles matches beginning at 10 a.m., followed by singles matches at 11 a.m. Fans can attend for free at the Indoor Tennis Center or follow Tournament Central for live updates and results.
