Michigan State hockey ends season with balanced performance under Coach Amo Bessone

The 1962-63 Michigan State Hockey Team, led by Head Coach Amo Bessone, finished the season with an overall record of 11 wins and 12 losses. Within the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), they recorded 6 wins and 10 losses, tying for fifth place.

The team showed strong performances against St. Lawrence and Michigan, achieving notable victories. On November 22, they defeated St. Lawrence with a score of 7-3, followed by a narrow win over Clarkson on November 23 with a score of 2-1. The team had mixed results in December; they won an overtime match against Michigan on November 30 but faced a significant loss to North Dakota on December 7.

In January, the team's performance fluctuated with losses to Denver and Colorado College but managed to secure a victory against Minnesota-Duluth on January 11. February saw them securing consecutive wins against Minnesota-Duluth and Michigan before ending the regular season with mixed results against Minnesota.

Coach Bessone's roster included players such as James Wherley, Albert Checco, Thomas Boucher, Edward Ozybko, Andre LaCoste, James Atack, Tom Mustonen, Robert Kempf, John Chandik in the front row; Trainer Duke LaRue and Manager Alan Friedman were part of the back row along with Claude Fournel and others.
