The 1957-58 Michigan State University hockey team, under the guidance of Head Coach Amo Bessone, concluded their season with an overall record of 12 wins and 11 losses. In the Western Intercollegiate Hockey League (WIHL), they secured a fifth-place finish with a conference record of 9 wins and 11 losses.

Throughout the season, the team faced various opponents, including an exhibition match against the Detroit Red Wings on December 4, which resulted in a loss with a score of 3-10. They achieved significant victories against Ohio State on December 7, winning by an impressive margin of 18-0, and again on January 31 with a score of 17-3.

The Spartans had mixed results against Colorado College and Denver in December. They split their series with Colorado College, losing the first game but bouncing back to win the second. However, they were unable to secure victories against Denver in both encounters.

In January, Michigan State managed to defeat Harvard and secured a win over Michigan as well. Their matches against Minnesota were closely contested; they lost one game but won another by a narrow margin.

The team showed resilience in February with consecutive wins over Michigan Tech and Michigan. However, North Dakota proved challenging for them later that month.

As the season wrapped up in March, Michigan State finished strong with a victory over Minnesota before closing out their schedule with another match against them that ended in defeat.

Coach Bessone's squad demonstrated competitive spirit throughout the season despite facing tough competition within their league.
