Michigan State track & field teams prepare for upcoming Michigan Invitational

After competing in separate events last weekend, Michigan State's track and field teams will gather in Ann Arbor for the Michigan Invitational on Saturday, February 9. The competition will see participation from several Midwestern teams, including Akron, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Michigan, and Toledo.

The Spartans will focus mainly on sprinting and throwing events. Field events begin with the women's weight throw at 10 a.m. Leading the Spartans is Elle Adrian, who secured the weight throw title at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on January 18 with a personal best of 21.39 meters. Val Pallett also claimed victory in the weight throw at the Wolverine Invitational on January 11. In the women's shot put category, Margaret Jones, Jessica Stieb, Elly Finch, and Rylan Finstrom are set to compete.

On the men's side for the weight throw event, Dalton DeBeau, Josh DeVries, Xavier Griffiths, Colby Morlock, Brendan Vander Meer, and Connor Williamson will represent Michigan State. In addition to these athletes in men's shot put are Dillon Morlock along with DeBeau, Colby Morlock, and Williamson.

The running events will commence with preliminaries for the men's 60-meter hurdles featuring Logan Allen in the second heat. Amani Nuels and Kaia Scheffler will participate in the women's 60-meter hurdles preliminaries. Additionally, Spartan athletes will compete in races covering distances of 200 meters, 400 meters, and 600 meters.
