Michigan State University's women's golf team is tied for seventh place after two rounds of the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic. The tournament is taking place at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. After shooting a 6-over par 294, Michigan State shares its position with Kansas State among 18 competing teams.
The three-day event includes 12 teams ranked within the top-50 in the latest NCAA rankings and will conclude on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
Vanderbilt leads the tournament at 11-under par 565, followed by Ole Miss at 6-under par 570. Arkansas holds third place with a score of 4-under par 572. Northwestern stands fourth at 3-under par 573, while Auburn and LSU are tied for fifth at 4-over par 580. Michigan State follows closely behind with a score of 5-over par 581.
Senior Brooke Biermann and junior Taylor Kehoe lead Michigan State's efforts, both tied for 15th place at even-par 144. Biermann scored a round of even-par after posting a score of three-over-par on Monday following her initial three-under-par performance on Sunday. Kehoe contributed to the team's success with the best round of the day, scoring one-under-par.
Other notable performances include senior Katie Lu, who is tied for 24th place with a score of one-over-par; sophomore Ana Sofia Murica, who sits in tie for the 45th spot; and freshman Catalina Monroy, currently positioned in tie for the 82nd spot. Junior Paula Balanzategui, playing as an individual competitor, impressively holds a tie for seventh place overall.
In preparation for Tuesday's final round, Michigan State will begin play from the fourth hole alongside Auburn, LSU, and Kansas State starting at approximately half-past seven Eastern Time.
