Michigan State hockey concludes 1969-70 season with mixed results

The 1969-70 Michigan State University hockey team, under the leadership of Head Coach Amo Bessone, completed their season with an overall record of 13 wins and 16 losses. In the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), they achieved a record of 10 wins and 12 losses, placing them seventh in the league standings.

Throughout the season, the team experienced a mix of victories and defeats. Notable wins included triumphs over North Dakota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado College, and Minnesota-Duluth. However, they also faced challenges against teams like Denver and Michigan Tech.

Key players on the roster included Captain Norm Gaffney along with teammates Richard Duffett, Alan Swanson, Bob Patullo, Bill Watt, Mike Olson, Pat Russo, Bob Johnson among others. The coaching staff was supported by Assistant Coach Alex Terpay and Trainer Clyde Stretch.

The team's performance varied across different tournaments such as the Great Lakes Invitational held at Olympia Stadium in Detroit and the Big Ten Tournament in Ann Arbor. They also participated in the Boston Invitational before concluding their season at the WCHA Playoffs against Denver.
