Michigan State University held its 19th annual First Pitch Dinner on Sunday at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing, Michigan. The event drew nearly 500 attendees, marking a significant gathering of Spartan baseball supporters.

"This event is always a great day and it always signifies that we're really close to starting the season. To have close to 500 people here in support of our guys, I think is really overwhelming to be quite honest with you," said MSU head coach Jake Boss Jr. He emphasized the importance of community support for the team, especially for new players.

The dinner featured keynote speakers Lance Parrish and Dan Petry, members of the 1984 Detroit Tigers World Series Champions. The event also honored Dr. Al and Mary Kay Bolles as Alumni of the Year. "Dr. Al and Mary Kay are two remarkable people; they are true friends of mine and my family, and tremendous supporters of our program," Boss stated.

Attendees had the opportunity to collect autographs from players, bid on silent auction items, and enjoy a meal after an invocation by former Spartan pitcher Caleb Sleeman. Jim Cotter served as master of ceremonies for the evening.

"It's a great honor; it's just fabulous and humbling to be considered Alumni of the Year," said Mary Kay Bolles about receiving their award. She praised Coach Boss for his integrity in coaching student-athletes.

Following their recognition, Parrish and Petry engaged in question-and-answer sessions with Cotter and audience members. They shared stories from their careers, including memories involving Kirk Gibson and Rickey Henderson.

Afterward, Parrish joined Hall of Fame sportswriter Tom Gage to sign copies of their book "The Enchanted Season," which recounts the 1984 World Series run.

"We have some great fans here at Michigan State," Parrish noted about the turnout at the event.

Michigan State's baseball team will begin its season from February 14-16 in Cary, North Carolina. Their home opener is scheduled for March 12 against Michigan at Jeff Ishbia Field at McLane Stadium.

Season tickets went on sale during the dinner event through the Spartan Ticket Office. Baseball packages include access to 22 home games priced at $50 each while softball packages cover 15 home games for $25 each.
