Junior guard Theryn Hallock played a pivotal role in Michigan State University's women's basketball team's victory over the University of Michigan. Hallock scored 23 of her 25 points in the second half, leading the No. 21 Spartans to an 88-58 win against the No. 24 Wolverines at Crisler Center on Saturday afternoon. This marked MSU's largest margin of victory against U-M in Ann Arbor.

The game attracted the fourth-largest crowd in Michigan women's basketball history. The Spartans have now won five consecutive games, improving their record to 17-3 overall and 7-2 in Big Ten contests. Meanwhile, Michigan's four-game winning streak came to an end, leaving them with a record of 14-6 overall and 5-4 in league play.

MSU head coach Robyn Fralick achieved a milestone by becoming only the third Spartan head coach to win her first three games against the Wolverines, joining Karen Langeland and Mikki Baile.

Michigan State had four players scoring in double figures for the second consecutive game. Alongside Hallock's performance, graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault and junior forward Grace VanSlooten each contributed 18 points. Ayrault also recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 rebounds. Graduate guard Jaddan Simmons added 11 points and six rebounds.

For Michigan, Olivia Hobbs led with 15 points.

The game began as a close contest, tied at 10-10 during the first media timeout. The Wolverines capitalized on early foul calls, going perfect from the free throw line in the first quarter and taking an 18-17 lead by its end. Simmons and Ayrault were key contributors for MSU with five points each after ten minutes.

In the second quarter, Michigan extended their lead to four points before MSU responded with four straight points to narrow it down again before halftime at which they trailed by just four points (33-29). Simmons led MSU scorers at halftime with nine points.

The Spartans regained control early in the third quarter following successful three-pointers from Ayrault and Hallock that gave them a two-point advantage (35-33). They then scored fifteen unanswered points to secure their first double-digit lead (44-33) thanks largely due defensive efforts including multiple steals leading into fast breaks or turnovers converted into scores such as when Hallock stole ball leading layup putting team ahead further still prompting another timeout called out by opposition bench staff seeking ways counteract momentum shift favoring visitors who managed season-high thirty-one point output within single period alone thereby setting tone remainder match where ultimately ended comfortably ahead final buzzer sounded signifying completion fixture played out under competitive yet sportsmanlike conditions witnessed spectators present venue alike those watching afar via televised broadcast channels covering event
