Michigan State's men's tennis team, ranked 17th, began their ITA Kickoff Weekend with a decisive victory over Liberty, winning 4-0. The event took place at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and was hosted by TCU.

The Spartans featured familiar doubles pairings with junior Ozan Baris and redshirt-sophomore Aristotelis Thanos teaming up again. Freshman Matthew Forbes paired with senior Max Sheldon, while a new duo emerged in sophomore Taym Alazmeh and freshman Mitchell Sheldon.

Alazmeh and Mi. Sheldon quickly dominated their match against Liberty's Chase Robinson and Trey Stinchcomb, securing a 6-2 win. On the adjacent court, Forbes and Ma. Sheldon fought hard but fell short against Ernest Gouws and Carl Roothman from Liberty, losing 4-6.

Baris and Thanos were pivotal in regaining momentum for Michigan State by defeating Joaquim Almeida and Siwant Auytakakul from Liberty 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.

In singles play, Ma. Sheldon brought in the first singles point for Michigan State by defeating Carl Roothman 6-3, 6-1. Thanos followed suit by overcoming Joaquim Almeida with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Vuk Radjenovic faced a challenging match against Rodrigo Santiago Arraez but managed to secure his first collegiate singles win after taking the match to a tiebreaker set. Radjenovic triumphed with scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

With these victories secured for Michigan State, remaining matches were left unfinished as they had already won overall.

The Spartans are set to continue their participation in the ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 26 against either No. 2 TCU or Pacific at approximately 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT or following the previous match's conclusion.
