Michigan State University's women's tennis team concluded the Spartan Invite at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday. The tournament began at 9 a.m., featuring freshmen Ellie Blackford, Amara Brahmbhatt, and Olivia Kutlova in singles matches. Blackford and Kutlova faced Northwestern opponents, while Brahmbhatt competed against an Ohio State player. This marked Kutlova's second singles appearance as a Spartan.

Amara Brahmbhatt secured a victory over Ohio State's Dani Schoenly with scores of 6-3, 6-1. This win added to her successful weekend record in singles matches. Meanwhile, Ellie Blackford and Olivia Kutlova delivered strong performances against Northwestern's Jennifer Riester and Katya Shepherd Johnson but did not secure wins.

The day's events also included matches from senior Liisa Vehvilainen, juniors Issey Purser and Sarah Fazlagic, and sophomore Natalie Stasny. Despite a valiant effort against Ohio State's Alessia Cau, Issey Purser lost her match with scores of 4-6, 4-6.

Sarah Fazlagic claimed her first Spartan victory of the season by defeating Butler's Elle Martin in two sets: 7-5 (8-6), 6-4. Natalie Stasny overcame an initial set loss to defeat DePaul’s Sasha Sakura Stula after winning the next two sets: 7-6 (7-5) and 6-3.

Liisa Vehvilainen ended her match on a high note after trailing early in the first set but won it at 7-5 before securing the second set at 6-2.

The Spartans will compete again from November 7th to November 9th during the NCAA Sectional Championship; further details are forthcoming.
