Michigan State's women's basketball team began their season with a victory at the Breslin Center. Head Coach Robyn Fralick shared her thoughts on the game and the team's prospects for the upcoming season.

Coach Fralick was pleased with her team's performance, stating, "I loved our effort, I loved our energy, I loved the entire impact our entire roster made in that game." She emphasized that while there are areas for improvement, the team is off to a promising start.

Reflecting on the broader landscape of women's basketball, Fralick noted its increasing popularity: "The growth of our sport is at the best place it's ever been and it's deserving of that. It is worthy of it." She attributed this rise to improved quality and increased television exposure.

The bench's contribution during the game was highlighted as crucial by Fralick. "Really good teams have a lot of players who impact the game," she remarked, acknowledging the positive influence from various players.

Defensively, Michigan State showed strength by forcing turnovers. Fralick explained, "Our disruption tonight did a really good job forcing turnovers...our disruption led to a lot of advantages."

Discussing team identity and depth, Fralick mentioned they are still learning but have shown physicality and defensive prowess early on. She also addressed changes made after last season to enhance depth and effectiveness: "We felt like going into this season that we needed more depth to play the way we want to play."

The team aims to continue developing these strengths as they progress through their schedule.
