City of Midland issued the following announcement on Oct 28.
Midland Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce it has received a $50,000 grant from SC Johnson to support the Middle of the Mitt Miracle Field in Midland.
The funds will be used for the completion of the first phase of Miracle Field construction, which includes development of the field, dugouts, bleachers, accessible parking, and restrooms along with accessible pathways.
Once complete, Midland's Miracle Field will provide a place for youth and adults to play baseball in an inclusive and accessible environment. In addition to the field being used for baseball, Parks and Recreation expects to offer other community activities onsite such as a variety of sports, movie nights, holiday-themed events, and more. The City will partner with other agencies who provide services for children and adults with disabilities, offering the field for their use as well for special programs, outdoor activities, classroom programs and more.
“The City of Midland is extremely honored and excited to receive this grant from SC Johnson, which will allow us to complete Phase 1 of construction and, ultimately, to start Miracle League play in spring 2022,” said Marcie Post, Assistant Director of Public Services. “With the help of SC Johnson, we are bringing miracles to Midland.”
