Grand Rapids Community College professor Leora Godfrey donates $500 to Frederick Stephen Upton's campaign

Leora Godfrey, a professor at Grand Rapids Community College, donated $500 to Republican Party candidate Frederick Stephen Upton, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $3,402 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with Grand Rapids Community College as of November 3. Approximately 55.9 percent, or $1,902, of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Tom Neils' contribution of $1,000 to Democratic Party Gary Peters was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with Grand Rapids Community College since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
