Michigan State prepares for crucial matchup against Indiana

Michigan State's men's basketball team is set to face Indiana in a Tuesday night matchup at the Breslin Center. The game will be broadcast live on Peacock, with commentary by Paul Burmeister and Austin Rivers. The Spartan Media Network will provide radio coverage, featuring play-by-play by Will Tieman and color analysis by Matt Steigenga, with Zach Surdenik as the studio host. The Spartans enter the game with a 19-4 overall record (10-2 in Big Ten Conference) and are ranked No. 11 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls. They hold positions of No. 19 in NCAA Net Rankings, No. 17 according to KenPom.com, and No. 15 in ESPN BPI rankings.

Recently, Michigan State secured an 86-74 victory over Oregon at home, highlighted by freshman guard Jase Richardson's career-high of 29 points. "The Spartans are the only team in the country to have just two players averaging double-digit points while playing under 26.5 minutes per game," notes their impressive depth strategy.

Jaden Akins leads Michigan State with an average of 13.4 points per game (ppg), while Richardson follows with averages of 10.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game (apg). Sophomore forward Coen Carr contributes an average of 8.3 ppg, and junior guard Tre Holloman adds another 8.2 ppg.

Indiana arrives for this contest holding a record of 14-10 overall, including a challenging stretch within the Big Ten Conference at 5-8 following a narrow loss to Michigan at home.

Graduate center Omar Ballo leads Indiana's scoring efforts with an average of 13.7 ppg and ranks second in rebounding within the conference at an average of 9.6 rebounds per game (rpg).

Historically, Indiana leads the series against Michigan State with a tally of 74 wins to Michigan State's 59 victories; however, "the Spartans have won four of the last five games" between these teams.

Coach Tom Izzo has achieved a career record of "29-19 against Indiana," underscoring his team's competitive edge against this opponent over time.
