Michigan State University's men's tennis team faced a challenging match against Boise State on Sunday, ultimately falling 4-3. The game marked MSU's fifth consecutive away match and their fourth true road match in a row.

Despite recent setbacks, including dropping six spots in the ITA team rankings, the Spartans aimed to showcase their talent. Freshman Matthew Forbes recently received the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, adding to the team's motivation.

The doubles matches saw MSU switch up pairings. Sophomore Taym Alazmeh and freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev played at No. 1, while senior Max Sheldon teamed with his brother, freshman Mitchell Sheldon, at No. 2. Forbes partnered with Vuk Radjenovic in the final spot.

Max and Mitchell Sheldon secured a victory against Kurata/Seifert from Boise State, bringing MSU closer to claiming the doubles point. However, Forbes and Radjenovic fell to Chin/Van Herseele of Boise State with a score of 6-4.

Alazmeh and Rakhmatullayev clinched their match against Middleton/Baker from Boise State in a tiebreaker, winning 7-6 (7-4), securing the doubles point for MSU.

In singles play, Alazmeh was defeated by Lukas Seifert of BSU with scores of 6-3, 6-4. Max Sheldon achieved victory over Jett Middleton of BSU with a straight-set win of 7-5, 6-3.

Mitchell Sheldon lost after leading initially against James Van Herseele from BSU; he was overcome in three sets: 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Rakhmatullayev managed to win his singles match after losing an initial tiebreak set against John Chin from BSU but came back strong with scores of 6-2 in both subsequent sets.

Radjenovic put forth significant effort at No. 3 singles but ultimately lost to Julius Seifert from BSU in another three-set battle: 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-4.

With points tied at three each between teams, all eyes were on Forbes at No. 2 singles against Carson Baker from Boise State.
