Michigan State University's men's tennis team, ranked No. 22, is set to travel to Idaho for a match against Boise State on Sunday, February 9th. The Spartans have been performing strongly, having faced three Top 25 teams in recent weeks. This series of matches has resulted in several players receiving weekly awards for their performances.

In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, the Spartans dropped from No. 18 to No. 22 but remain within the top 25. Junior Ozan Baris held his position at No. 8, while redshirt-sophomore Aristotelis Thanos climbed from No. 27 to No. 19. Senior Max Sheldon improved his ranking from No. 83 to No. 61, and freshman Matthew Forbes moved slightly from No. 40 to No. 43.

The doubles team of Baris and Thanos made significant progress in their rankings, jumping from No. 94 to No. 29.

Matthew Forbes was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday, marking a historic achievement as he became Michigan State's first recipient of this award since its introduction this spring.

The team aims to bounce back after recent losses against Tennessee and Clemson and demonstrate their deservingness of current rankings and accolades.

Boise State enters the matchup with a strong start to their season, holding a record of three wins and one loss after a sweeping victory over Eastern Washington on January 31st.

Jett Middleton leads Boise State's efforts with his ITA ranking at No. 115 as they look forward to continuing their winning streak against Michigan State.

After facing Boise State, Michigan State will take a break before playing Cornell on February 23rd.
