Michigan State University's women's tennis team is set to host in-state rivals Western Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University this Sunday, February 2nd. The double-header event will take place at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center, beginning with a match against Western Michigan at 10 a.m., followed by a contest with Eastern Michigan.
The Spartans are coming off a successful home-opening weekend where they defeated Xavier and West Virginia. These victories have brought their spring season record to an even 2-2.
In the upcoming match against Western Michigan, the Spartans hold an historical advantage with an 8-4 record over their opponents. This will be only the second meeting between these teams in five years. The Broncos enter the match with a strong start to their season, having won four out of five matches played at home but suffered a loss in their only away game against Notre Dame.
Following the morning match, MSU will face Eastern Michigan in the afternoon around 2 p.m. The Spartans have dominated this series historically as well, maintaining an 18-4 record over twenty-six years and winning all encounters since 2005. Eastern's current season stands at two wins and two losses after facing Cincinnati and Dayton last weekend.
Looking ahead, Michigan State's women's tennis team will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia for matches against James Madison on February 15th and Liberty on February 16th.
