Michigan State University's track and field teams are preparing for two significant out-of-state meets this weekend. The Spartans will be divided, with some athletes heading to the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky, while others will compete at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana. Both events are scheduled for Friday, January 31st through Saturday, February 1st.
In Louisville, the Michigan State team will focus on vertical and horizontal jumps. Leila Barmore and Avery Budz are set to participate in the pentathlon, while Sean Mullen will take part in the men's heptathlon. Sprinters Carter Bissell and Jalen Nelson are slated to run in the 60m dash on Friday at 10:10 a.m. The day's events in Louisville will conclude with the women's weight throw and the pentathlon 800m at approximately 4:10 p.m.
The PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational promises competitive matchups featuring top-tier teams such as Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, in South Bend at the Meyo Invitational, Michigan State's distance squad will be competing. Their schedule begins lightly on Friday evening with the women's distance medley relay at 6 p.m., followed by the men's relay shortly after at 6:15 p.m. The night concludes with both women's and men's 5000m races. Competitors include Madison Price, Chloe Wall, Natalie Miller, Fatima Giron for the women’s race; Andrew Lane, Drew Seabase, and Nathan Larson for the men’s race.
The Meyo Invitational hosts teams such as Notre Dame (the host), Bowling Green, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
All Spartan athletes will reunite for their next event at the Michigan Invitational on Saturday, February 8th in Ann Arbor.
