East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State University players Trey Augustine and Isaac Howard have been included among the nominees for the annual Vote For Hobey Fan voting. The voting commenced on January 22.

Players from Division I institutions across the nation are nominated for this stage of the Vote for Hobey. The head coaches will vote to determine the Hobey Top Ten, which is set to be announced on March 19. A committee comprising coaches, administrators, and media members will then decide the winner. The top three finalists will be revealed on April 3 and brought to St. Louis for the Frozen Four announcement ceremony on April 11.

Trey Augustine has distinguished himself as one of the leading goaltenders nationally during his two seasons in East Lansing. He is currently noted as the youngest full-time starting goaltender among Division I teams for a second consecutive year. In 2024, he was a Richter Award finalist and remains on its Watch List in 2025. He leads the Big Ten in wins (12) and ranks sixth nationally with a save percentage of .932 (T-9th NCAA). Additionally, he holds second place in shutouts (2, T-9th NCAA) and third place in goals against average (1.97, 13th NCAA). Augustine has played 17 games with over 1033 minutes on ice this season.

Augustine's record includes backstopping Team USA to three consecutive medals at the IIHF World Junior Championships over recent years, contributing to gold medal victories in both 2004 and 2005 – marking a first-ever back-to-back win for Team USA at this event. He stands as one of only nineteen goaltenders ever to participate in three WJC tournaments throughout their careers; an achievement recognized by IIHF records within his position category.
