Michigan State University's freshman softball player, Jacey Schuler, has been recognized by Softball America as part of their Freshman Watch List. Schuler joins seven other athletes from the No. 23-ranked recruiting class according to Extra Innings Softball.
Schuler arrives in East Lansing with a notable record. She has twice been honored as a Second Team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) High School All-American.
During her time at Antioch Community High School, Schuler was named Lake County News-Sun Softball Player of the Year three times consecutively and led her team to a second straight 3A second-place finish in 2024. In her senior year, she achieved a 23-4 record with a 1.54 ERA and recorded 321 strikeouts over 172 innings pitched. Offensively, she hit .523 with 11 home runs and contributed 44 RBIs.
As a four-time Illinois Softball Coaches Association Class 3A First Team All-State selection, Schuler concluded her high school career with impressive statistics: 1,113 strikeouts and a 1.28 ERA as a pitcher, alongside a .508 batting average, hitting 35 home runs and amassing 205 RBIs at bat. Her five grand slams are the second-highest in Illinois High School Association (IHSA) history, while her RBI total ranks at No.13.
Schuler was ranked No.36 in the Class of 2024 by Extra Innings and held the No.42 spot via Perfect Game.
