Michigan State University's freshman hockey player, Shane Vansaghi, has been ranked 36th among North American skaters in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings. The rankings were announced on Tuesday, January 14.
Vansaghi, hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, is one of the youngest players in college hockey this season. Born in October 2006, he is eligible for the first time for the 2025 NHL Draft scheduled to take place in June in Los Angeles. Vansaghi comes from the US National Team Development Program and is currently the sixth-highest rated prospect among US collegiate players.
Throughout this season, Vansaghi has participated in all 21 games for Michigan State University (MSU), contributing two goals and nine assists. MSU's team is ranked No. 1 nationally and leads the Big Ten conference while maintaining a nine-game unbeaten streak ahead of their weekend series against No. 10 Michigan. The Spartans hold an overall record of 18-2-2.
