Michigan State University's women's basketball team is set to host Washington on Sunday, January 12, at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The game will coincide with Alumni Day celebrations, which include honoring the 2005 Final Four team. The Spartans currently hold a 12-3 overall record and are 2-2 in Big Ten play. They recently faced a narrow defeat against Nebraska, ending with an 85-80 scoreline. Meanwhile, Washington arrives at the Breslin Center riding a five-game winning streak and holds a 12-4 overall record with three wins in Big Ten games.

Graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault has been notable for Michigan State this season, scoring over 20 points in multiple games. She leads her team in several statistical categories and recently reached the milestone of 1,000 career points.

Washington's top scorer Elle Ladine averages 15.7 points per game and stands tied for 13th in the Big Ten rankings. Under head coach Tina Langley, now in her fourth season with the Huskies, Washington boasts a strong performance history.

Historically, Michigan State and Washington have only met twice before, each securing one win apiece. Their last encounter was back in December 2009 when Michigan State won convincingly.
