Michigan State prepares for Wolverine Invitational after holiday break

Returning from the holiday break, the Michigan State track and field team is set to compete at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Saturday, January 11. The event will see participation from a significant number of Spartans, primarily throwers and sprinters.

Field events are scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw. Elly Finch, Rylan Finstrom, Valadian Pallett, and Eriana Hubbard will represent the Spartans in this category. Additionally, Finch and Finstrom will participate in the women's shot put alongside Savannah Breitwiser.

In men's field events, five Spartans are slated for action in the weight throw: Colby Morlock, Josh DeVries, Dalton DeBeau, Dillon Morlock, and Xavier Griffiths. Both Morlocks and DeBeau will also compete in the shot put later during the day.

The running events begin at 11 a.m., starting with preliminaries for the women's 60m hurdles. Veteran sprinters Kaia Scheffler and Amani Nuels are entered in the 60m dash; Scheffler will also compete in the 60m hurdles. On the men's side, Noah Heiber and Logan Allen will take part in the 60m hurdles with Cameron Cheetam and Drew Novak joining them for the 60m dash. Elizabeth Anderson and Terrance Muex are scheduled to compete in their respective categories for women’s and men’s 300m races.

After completing their participation at the Wolverine Invitational, Michigan State's track & field team plans to return to Ann Arbor next weekend for another competition at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on Saturday, January 18.
