Michigan State University's baseball player Joseph Dzierwa has been recognized by Perfect Game, being named to their Preseason All-American list. The junior left-handed pitcher earned a spot on the third-team list, joining other Big Ten Conference players such as Indiana's Devin Taylor and Ohio State's Blaine Wynk.

This recognition marks Dzierwa's second preseason accolade, following his inclusion in D1Baseball's Top 150 College Draft Prospect list at No. 121. Last season, Dzierwa made significant contributions to his team with impressive statistics in various categories within the Big Ten Conference.

Dzierwa hails from Haskins, Ohio, and had an outstanding performance last season with 84 innings pitched and 91 strikeouts. He ranked second in these categories within the conference. His achievements also include a notable WHIP of 1.19 and a K/9 rate of 9.7.

In his final game of the 2024 season against Nebraska, Dzierwa achieved a career-high of 11 strikeouts. This feat was significant as he was the only Michigan State pitcher to record double-digit strikeouts during that season.

With his performance contributing to Michigan State's total of 420 strikeouts for the year, Dzierwa's efforts placed him eighth on MSU’s single-season Top 10 strikeouts list with his personal tally of 91.

As he enters his junior year in 2025, Dzierwa is close to breaking into MSU’s career top-10 strikeout list. He needs just 19 more strikeouts to reach this milestone.

The Spartans are set to begin their new season on February 14th against Western Michigan in Cary, North Carolina.
