Michigan State University secured a narrow 4-3 victory over Wisconsin at Munn Ice Arena, overcoming a 3-1 deficit with three goals in the final 26 minutes. Charlie Stramel scored the decisive goal for the Spartans with just over five minutes left in regulation.

"Stramel - for the second B1G game in a row - caps a comeback from a 3-1 deficit with a go-ahead goal. Howard and Russell on the assists," tweeted Michigan State Hockey.

The Spartans, now holding a record of 16-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in Big Ten play, initially took an early lead through Tiernan Shoudy. However, Wisconsin equalized late in the first period and added two more goals early in the second to establish a 3-1 advantage. Karsen Dorwart reduced MSU's deficit before Isaac Howard tied the game shortly into the third period. A key play by Daniel Russell set up Howard and Stramel for MSU's winning goal.

Luca Di Pasquo, improving his season record to 5-0, matched his career best with 30 saves. His counterpart, Tommy Scarfone of Wisconsin, made 32 saves. Wisconsin's goals were scored by Gavin Morrisey, Owen Lindmark, and Sawyer Scholl.

The Spartans outshot their opponents 36 to 33 and recorded more blocked shots than Wisconsin. Despite failing to score on power plays (0-for-2), MSU managed to keep their momentum going after recent successes against Minnesota.

In Big Ten standings, MSU is now just two points behind first-place Minnesota with nine games played.

The teams will meet again at Wrigley Field as part of the Frozen Confines event this Saturday.

Statistics highlight that MSU has overcome similar deficits recently; they also achieved this feat against Minnesota last month when Stramel secured another game-winning goal. The line comprising Stramel, Howard, and Russell contributed significantly to MSU's performance with multiple points each.

Tiernan Shoudy opened scoring for MSU assisted by Tommi Männistö and David Gucciardi. Dorwart’s goal was assisted by Red Savage and Joey Larson while Gucciardi provided additional support on Howard’s equalizer later on.
