Michigan State's men's basketball team is set to face Oakland University at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Tuesday, December 17. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with commentary from John Schriffen and Jon Crispin. Fans can also listen to the Spartan Media Network radio call online at MSUSpartans.com, featuring Will Tieman, Matt Steigenga, and Zach Surdenik.

The Spartans come into the match with an 8-2 overall record and are ranked No. 20 in the Associated Press poll. They have won their last three games and six of their last seven. Michigan State recently defeated Nebraska 89-52 in a Big Ten Conference game, with senior guard Jaden Akins scoring 18 points.

Jaden Akins leads Michigan State with an average of 13 points per game, while freshman guard Jase Richardson and senior forward Frankie Fidler contribute over ten points each per game. Junior forward Jaxon Kohler is notable for his rebounding skills, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game.

Oakland University holds a 3-5 record after losing to Youngstown State on December 7. This upcoming match marks the first time both teams will play after a ten-day break.

Historically, Michigan State has dominated this matchup against Oakland, leading the series 22-0. Their most recent encounter was a win for Michigan State at the Breslin Center last year.

Little Caesars Arena has been a favorable venue for Michigan State, where they hold a 5-1 all-time record. The Spartans' last appearance there resulted in an impressive victory over Baylor during the Motor City Invitational.
