Michigan State University's women's basketball team is set to begin its Big Ten conference play against Iowa this Sunday at the Breslin Center. The Spartans, ranked No. 17/19, have achieved a historic start to their season with a 9-0 record under head coach Robyn Fralick. This marks the best start in the program's history, surpassing previous records of 8-0 in the 2012-13 and 2020-21 seasons.

The Iowa Hawkeyes, ranked No. 21/25, come into this matchup with a strong record of 9-1 after defeating Iowa State earlier this week. Both teams will be playing their first conference game of the season.

Graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault has been instrumental for Michigan State, averaging a double-double over her last five games with 19.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. In their recent game against DePaul, the Spartans set a school record with 14 blocks.

Iowa leads the overall series against Michigan State with a record of 43-30. The last two encounters between these teams were closely contested, each decided by three points or less.

Sunday's game will feature commentary from Kylen Mills and Christy Winters Scott on the Big Ten Network.
