Michigan State athletes earn Academic All-Big Ten honors

The Big Ten Conference has announced the recognition of fall sport student-athletes who have earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. Among those honored are 168 athletes from Michigan State University (MSU).

To qualify for this recognition, students must be part of a varsity team, have been enrolled full-time at their institution for at least 12 months, and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The recognized MSU athletes come from various sports including men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball.

Notably, 14 Spartan student-athletes achieved a perfect cumulative GPA of 4.0. The field hockey team leads with four members reaching this academic milestone. The students include Jillian Bonczewski in Elementary Education, Kyle Eberhard in Exploratory Preference, Will Eby in Mechanical Engineering, Lyra Gavino in Finance, Justina Gaynor in Sport Coaching, Leadership & Administration, Isabell Kulick in Accounting, Sophia Lucki in Human Biology, Josh Mason in Kinesiology, Bella Najera in Marketing, Andrew Nolan pursuing a Computer Science MS degree, Judith Rector studying for a Master's in Media and Information, Alexa Shaffer and Brynn Shaffer both majoring in Kinesiology and Elementary Education respectively, and Darius Snow focusing on Strategic Communication.
