Michigan State University's track and field teams are set to begin their indoor season following a successful cross-country campaign. The Spartans will participate in two events this weekend, with most athletes competing at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan, on Friday, December 6. A select group of runners will also take part in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.

The event hosted by Grand Valley State University at the Kelly Family Sports Center will feature Spartan athletes across various disciplines, including jumps, throws, and sprints. More than 40 team members are expected to compete at the GVSU Holiday Open.

In women's events, Breanne Black, Natalie Blake, and Sophia Mettes will participate in the pole vault competition. Experienced athletes Amani Nuels and Kaia Scheffler are slated to run the 60m dash; Scheffler is also entered in the 60m hurdles.

On the men's side, NCAA qualifiers Dalton DeBeau and Noah Sage will make their debuts at Grand Valley. DeBeau is scheduled for shot put and weight throw events while Sage will compete in the 200m race. Terrance Muex is set to run the 400m, with Adam Blue competing in pole vault.

Big Ten Cross Country Freshman of the Year Rachel Forsyth and Kaitlyn Hynes are among those heading to Boston for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. Forsyth is entered in the 3000m event while Hynes will compete in the 5000m race.

Both meets this week can be viewed via streaming on FloTrack.
