Michigan State Athletics is gearing up for a busy week with several teams in action. The men's basketball team begins its Big Ten play, facing Minnesota on Wednesday and hosting Nebraska at Breslin Center on Saturday. The team has entered the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll at No. 25 after their performance at the Maui Invitational, which included a win over then-No. 13 North Carolina.

The women's basketball team, fresh off their victory at the 2024 Acrisure Classic, will host DePaul on Sunday. They are ranked No. 24 in the AP Top 25 and No. 25 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll. Julia Ayrault played a key role in their recent success, averaging 23 points and 10.5 rebounds during the tournament.

In hockey, Michigan State is set to play against Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday. The Spartans are currently on a nine-game winning streak, the longest since the 2000-01 season, and lead the nation in scoring defense by holding opponents to an average of 1.50 goals per game.

The track and field teams will start their indoor season this weekend with competitions at the GVSU Holiday Open on Friday and the Sharon Colylear-Danville Season Opener in Boston on Saturday.
