Six players from Michigan State University have been acknowledged by the Big Ten Conference for their performances in the 2024 season. Among them, Jonathan Kim, a sixth-year graduate kicker, and Ryan Eckley, a redshirt sophomore punter, were both named to the second-team All-Big Ten.
Jonathan Kim distinguished himself with notable achievements this season. He tied for second in the Big Ten with 19 field goals and ranked second in field goal percentage at .905. His performance included setting a school record with six field goals against Iowa on October 19. "Lou Groza Award semifinalist," and "Burlsworth Trophy nominee," are among his accolades.
Ryan Eckley achieved recognition as well, ranking second in the Big Ten for punting average at 47.9 yards and securing punts of over 50 yards on 20 occasions. He was also acknowledged last season with similar honors.
Honorable mentions were given to several other Spartans: defensive lineman Khris Bogle, defensive back Charles Brantley, offensive lineman Luke Newman, and linebacker Jordan Turner. Notably, Turner received the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Khris Bogle led MSU with four sacks this season and accumulated 37 total tackles. Charles Brantley led his team in interceptions despite playing only nine games due to injury. Luke Newman played all 12 games at left guard, leading MSU with 739 offensive snaps.
Jordan Turner stood out defensively with a career-high of 10.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions during the season. He transferred to MSU after playing four years at Wisconsin.
These athletes' contributions have been crucial to Michigan State's football success this year.
