Junior guard Tre Holloman achieved a career-high 19 points as Michigan State triumphed over No. 12 North Carolina with a score of 94-91 in an overtime match at the Maui Invitational's third-place game. The event took place at the Lahaina Civic Center on Wednesday night.

Holloman contributed significantly by scoring 13 of his total points in the first half and securing four crucial free throws during overtime.

Several other players from Michigan State also scored in double figures. Senior guard Jaden Akins recorded 14 points and three rebounds, while sophomore forward Coen Carr contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Redshirt freshman guard Jeremy Fears Jr. added to the team's success with 13 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Additionally, senior forward Frankie Fidler scored 13 points along with three rebounds, and sophomore forward Xavier Booker finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

With this victory, Michigan State's record improved to 6-2 overall, whereas North Carolina's record fell to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Michigan State is set to commence Big Ten Conference play against Minnesota on Wednesday, December 4.
