Under challenging weather conditions, Michigan State secured a 24-17 victory over Purdue at Spartan Stadium on Friday night. The win improves Michigan State's record to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten Conference, while Purdue falls to 1-10 overall and remains winless in conference play.

Montorie Foster Jr., a fifth-year senior, led the Spartans' receiving corps with four catches for 59 yards, including a touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles completed 15 of his 31 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns, marking his second consecutive game with multiple touchdown passes.

On the ground, sixth-year graduate senior Kay'ron Lynch-Adams carried the ball 18 times for 85 yards and also contributed three receptions for an additional 18 yards. Redshirt junior running back Nate Carter scored twice—once on a short run and once on a reception—and finished with a total of 47 all-purpose yards.

Defensively, Ed Woods matched his career high with nine tackles. The Spartans defense recorded three sacks and nine tackles for loss. Angelo Grose and Khris Bogle each registered sacks during the game. Jordan Turner added an interception to his season tally and made three tackles.

Despite being outgained by Purdue in total yardage (338-293), Michigan State won the turnover battle with two takeaways: Turner's interception and a fumble recovery by Maverick Hansen. The Spartans also limited Purdue to minus-4 rushing yards.

"Obviously pleased to find a way to win a game," said MSU head coach Jonathan Smith. "A kind of tale of two halves... but found a way in the fourth quarter to tighten things down."

The game summary shows that after conceding an early field goal, Michigan State responded with four consecutive scoring drives to establish a commanding halftime lead of 24-3. However, Purdue fought back in the second half with two touchdowns but could not overcome Michigan State's defense.

Looking ahead, Michigan State will host Rutgers on Senior Day next Saturday at Spartan Stadium.
