Michigan State men's tennis players competed in the Round of 32 at the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas. Junior Ozan Baris won against Carl Emil Overbeck from Cal Berkeley in a three-set match. This victory makes Baris an ITA All-American for the third consecutive year, marking him as the first Spartan to achieve this distinction.
Baris started strong, taking the first set 6-3 with aggressive baseline play and precise serving. Overbeck responded by winning the second set 7-5, but Baris dominated the final set 6-2 to secure his place in the Sweet 16. He is scheduled to face Pedro Vives from TCU on Thursday.
In another match, redshirt sophomore Aristotelis Thanos lost to Colton Smith of Arizona after a competitive three-set battle. Thanos initially led by winning the first set 6-4, but Smith rallied to win both subsequent sets 6-4.
