Michigan State's hockey team is set to continue its homestand with a series against Notre Dame this weekend. The Spartans, ranked No. 4/3, will face the Fighting Irish at Mason Rink in Munn Ice Arena on Friday and Saturday.

The all-time series between Michigan State and Notre Dame favors the Spartans with a record of 73-59-16. Notably, Jeff Jackson, who has been with Notre Dame for 20 seasons, holds a 19-28-8 record against Michigan State.

Michigan State is off to an impressive start this season with a 7-1-0 record, marking their best beginning since the 2007-08 campaign. Last Saturday's victory over Ohio State was significant for head coach Adam Nightingale as it marked his 50th win, making him the fastest in program history to reach this milestone.

Trey Augustine received recognition as the Big Ten Second Star of the Week after his performance against Ohio State. He stopped 51 of 54 shots during the series and currently leads the Big Ten in victories among goalies.

Daniel Russell leads Michigan State in goals with six so far this season. He scored twice against Ohio State, including his first career shorthanded goal which was also the game-winner. His contributions place him at the top nationally for game-winning goals.

Sophomore defenseman Maxim Štrbák shares the team lead in assists with Isaac Howard. Štrbák has already surpassed half of his freshman year point total early into this season.

This month, Michigan State is highlighting cancer awareness through its Spartans Full Strength program. In collaboration with the Dr. Stephen Swistak Memorial Fund, players and coaches will wear pins and helmet stickers to honor those affected by cancer throughout November.

Friday's game will be Military Appreciation Night while Saturday features a Student-Athlete Food Drive as part of ongoing promotions during home games.

For fans planning to attend, additional time should be allocated for parking due to multiple events occurring on campus on Saturday.
