Michigan State's women's basketball team showcased a strong defensive performance in their recent game against Eastern Michigan, securing a decisive 95-49 victory at the Breslin Center. This game was part of the Spartans' annual Hoops for Troops event, which honors Veterans Day.
The Spartans, under head coach Robyn Fralick, have begun their season with a 3-0 record for the second consecutive year. "MSU has opened 3-0 for the second time in as many seasons under head coach Robyn Fralick," noted the team's post-game report. The team has consistently held their opponents to under 50 points in each of these games.
Junior guard Theryn Hallock led Michigan State with 18 points, alongside contributions from Julia Ayrault and Inés Sotelo who both scored 13 points. Kennedy Blair also added to the scoreline with 11 points. Jaddan Simmons made her first start for Michigan State and added eight points, six assists, and four steals.
Eastern Michigan's standout performer was Sisi Eleko, who achieved a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
The Spartans established an early lead, reaching double digits within five minutes of play. By halftime, they had expanded this advantage significantly to lead 58-25. The team's defense was particularly effective in forcing turnovers throughout the game.
Michigan State's freshmen took charge in the fourth quarter, contributing all of the team's final quarter points. Juliann Woodard led this effort with six points.
Looking ahead, Michigan State will face Eastern Kentucky on November 14th as they conclude their season-opening homestand.
