Junior outside hitter Taylor Preston achieved her first double-double of the season during Michigan State volleyball's 3-1 loss to Maryland at the Xfinity Center Pavilion. The match scores were 25-17, 19-25, 25-18, and 25-22. Preston led the Spartans with 12 kills and added 10 digs.

Following this game, Michigan State now holds a record of 8-16 overall and 1-12 in the Big Ten Conference (B1G), while Maryland improves to an overall record of 11-13 and a conference record of 2-11. Michigan State will continue their road games by facing Rutgers at Jersey Mike's Arena. Rutgers enters this match with a record of 5-19 after losing to UCLA.

Sophomore middle blocker Zuzanna Kulig contributed significantly with seven kills and eight blocks, hitting .400 for the match. Sophomore outside Taylah Holdem recorded a career-high five block assists. Senior setter Julia Bishop provided 28 assists and eight digs, while sophomore outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska had a season-high of 13 digs. Senior libero Nalani Iosia topped the match with 16 digs.

Michigan State achieved a hitting percentage of .120 along with a total of 61 digs in the match. They also posted impressive stats with thirteen blocks and five service aces. Kulig added two aces to lead Michigan State with fourteen total points.

Maryland established an early lead in set one using an extended run but Michigan State narrowed it down late in the set through strategic plays involving Bishop and Kulig.

In set two, Michigan State gained momentum early on, leading significantly before Maryland closed in. However, MSU managed to secure victory in this set through decisive plays from Kulig.

Set three saw both teams engaging in long scoring runs but Maryland eventually took control towards the end despite efforts from Preston and Anderson on behalf of MSU.

The fourth set was closely contested as both teams exchanged leads multiple times until Maryland clinched victory by securing final points needed for their win over MSU.
