Senior libero Nalani Iosia set a new career high with 34 digs during Michigan State's 3-1 loss to Ohio State at the Breslin Student Events Center. Her performance marked the third-highest single-match dig total in Michigan State history and tied for the 12th-most nationally in a four-set match this season. "It's the most in a four-set match in program history, topping Jane Zenner's 32, also against Ohio State on September 17, 1983."
Michigan State now holds an 8-15 overall record and is 1-11 in Big Ten play, while Ohio State improved to 10-12 overall and 3-9 in conference games. The Spartans will face Maryland on November 7 and Rutgers on November 8.
In addition to Iosia's standout performance, senior setter Julia Bishop achieved a personal best with 19 digs alongside her 32 assists. Junior outside hitter Akasha Anderson recorded one kill shy of her career-high with a total of 25 kills, hitting .250. Sophomore middle blocker Zuzanna Kulig led the match with five total blocks (three solo, two assisted), while junior outside hitter Taylor Preston contributed ten kills.
Freshman middle blocker Carmen Waye made her first collegiate start and earned seven kills with two blocks.

The first set saw MSU trailing early but gaining momentum through runs that put them ahead before ultimately securing it due to an Ohio State service error.
In the second set, both teams exchanged leads multiple times before Ohio State ended it with five consecutive points after MSU reached set point following back-to-back kills by Anderson.
During the third set, Michigan State briefly took control but eventually fell behind as an Ohio State kill sealed their lead for that frame.
Ohio State established dominance early in the fourth set despite efforts from MSU players like Anderson and Waye who tried cutting down their lead which resulted in final scores favoring Buckeyes at 25-18.
