Michigan State women's tennis competes in Spartan Invite

Michigan State University's women's tennis team participated in the second day of the Spartan Invite held at the MSU Indoor Tennis facility. The event began early, with doubles matches starting at 9 a.m. Freshman Ellie Blackford and senior Liisa Vehvilainen faced DePaul's Hannah Smith and Sasha Sakura Stula, securing a victory with a score of 6-4.

Singles matches commenced at 2 p.m., involving all members of the Spartans team. Junior Issey Purser achieved success by overcoming Ohio State's Dani Schoenly. Despite losing her first set, Purser rallied to win the next two sets, ending the match at 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Sophomore Natalie Stasny also performed well, defeating Butler's Chase Metcalf with scores of 6-3, 6-2.

While other members of the Michigan State team competed on Saturday, they were unable to secure victories against their opponents. Nevertheless, each player delivered strong performances throughout their matches.

The Spartans will return for the final day of competition on Sunday, November 3rd. Fans can stay updated on schedules and results through Spartan Invite Tournament Central.
