Michigan State's men's basketball team secured an 85-67 victory over Ferris State in an exhibition match at the Breslin Center. Senior forward Frankie Fidler led the team with 14 points, scoring 12 in the first half. Sophomore forwards Coen Carr and Xavier Booker also contributed significantly, scoring 12 and 10 points respectively.
At halftime, Michigan State held a 40-28 lead. Early in the second half, a three-pointer from Fears extended their advantage to 15 points. Despite a brief rally from Ferris State that reduced the deficit to five points, Michigan State responded with a decisive 14-3 run, fueled by free throws from Fears and an alley-oop dunk by Carr.
A late three-pointer by freshman guard Jase Richardson further widened the gap to 62-45. Freshman guard Kur Teng added another three-pointer, pushing Michigan State's lead to its largest margin of 21 points with just seconds remaining.
Throughout the game, Michigan State showcased depth as eleven players scored for the Spartans. Junior forward Jaxon Kohler made notable contributions with nine points and a game-high of eleven rebounds.
Looking ahead, Michigan State will commence their regular season on November 4 against Monmouth University at home. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will be broadcast on B1G+.
