Michigan State forward Tanner Kelly has been named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week as announced on Tuesday, October 29. Kelly, hailing from San Diego, California, played a pivotal role in Michigan State's recent victories over Canisius, scoring a goal and an assist in each game. His performance included netting the game-winning goal on Friday.
Throughout his four-year tenure at Michigan State University (MSU), Kelly has participated in 113 games and achieved a scoring line of 18 goals, 28 assists, and 46 points with a plus-minus rating of +8. This season alone, he has accumulated five points over six games.
Kelly is the fourth MSU player to receive weekly honors this season. Previously recognized players include Isaac Howard and Daniel Russell for their performances against Lake Superior State and Charlie Stramel for his contribution during the Boston College series.
Currently, MSU boasts an undefeated record of 4-0 on the road and holds an overall standing of 5-1 as they head into a bye week. The Spartans have moved up one spot to rank No. 3 in both national polls following their successful road sweep.
