Michigan State University's men's tennis team concluded the Louisville Classic tournament with an 8-4 record over a three-day weekend. Freshmen Mitchell Sheldon and Danial Rakhmatullayev, alongside senior Josh Portnoy, secured three final victories.

The matches began on Friday, with all three Spartans participating. Sheldon marked the team's first win by defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-3. However, he later lost to Jose Garcia from Tennessee, 4-6, 2-6. On Saturday, Sheldon defeated Enrique Pena of Louisville with a score of 7-5, 6-3. He added another victory on Sunday against Evan Duggal from Louisville, finishing the match at 6-1, 6-0.

Portnoy initially faced two losses but recovered by winning against Matthew Nice of Bellarmine on Saturday with scores of 7-5, 6-3. On Sunday, Portnoy contributed another win for his team by overcoming Russell Lokko from Louisville in a closely contested match that ended at 6-3, 7-6 (5).

Rakhmatullayev suffered a defeat on Friday night with scores of 4-6, 3-6 but bounced back on Saturday by defeating Russell Lokko from Louisville swiftly at 6-4, 6-0. Later that day, he won against Evan Duggal from Louisville with scores of 6-3, 6-2. Rakhmatullayev wrapped up the weekend by defeating Nice of Bellarmine in straight sets: 6-0, 6-3.

Looking ahead, Rakhmatullayev and Sheldon are set to participate in the Fighting Irish Mini Duals next weekend from November 1 to November 3. Following these tournaments, the Spartans will return home to prepare for upcoming events such as ITA Regionals and B1G Indoor Championships scheduled for November 7 to November 10.
