Michigan State University's women's golf team concluded the first round of The Landfall Tradition tied for sixth place. The event is taking place at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Spartans finished with a score of 3-over par 291.
The tournament spans three days and features a par-72, 6,178-yard course situated along the Intracoastal Waterway near Wrightsville Beach. Teams will continue competing on Saturday with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m.
Florida State and Duke share the lead after posting scores of 9-under par 279. North Carolina follows closely in third place at 8-under par 280. Ole Miss holds fourth position with a score of 6-under par 282, while Clemson is fifth at 1-under par 287.
Michigan State shares its sixth-place standing with NC State, both scoring 3-over par 291.
In individual performances, senior Katie Lu leads the Spartans and is tied for ninth place overall with a score of 2-under par 70. Junior Paula Balanzategui is tied for the 22nd spot at even-par 72. Junior Taylor Kehoe stands tied for 45th place with a score of 2-over par 74, and senior Brooke Biermann is tied for the 52nd position at 3-over par 75.
Freshman Catalina Monroy scored an eight-over-par round to tie for the eighty-third spot. Meanwhile, sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia, playing independently from her teammates, also scored a two-over-par round to join Kehoe in forty-fifth place.
The Spartans will resume play on Saturday morning alongside Maryland and UCF starting from the first hole.
