Michigan State University (MSU) is hosting an on-campus blood drive as part of a competition known as "The We Give Blood Drive." This initiative, organized by global healthcare company Abbott and the Big Ten Conference, aims to address the significant blood shortage currently affecting the United States.

Alan Haller, vice president and director of athletics at MSU, emphasized the importance of this event. "'The We Give Blood Drive' is a great opportunity for Spartans to save lives while showing their school spirit," he stated. He encouraged participation from students, faculty, alumni, and friends of MSU.

The blood drive will take place on Wednesday, October 30th, from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Breslin Center Gilbert Pavilion in East Lansing. Participants are encouraged to reserve an appointment online.

This event is part of a larger competition involving all 18 Big Ten Conference schools. The university that collects the most donations will receive a $1 million prize intended to advance student or community health initiatives.

"The We Give Blood Drive" continues through December 6th. More information about donation opportunities and current standings can be found on the Big Ten's website.

Additional local donation events are scheduled at various locations around East Lansing in the coming weeks.
