Michigan State University's hockey team, ranked No. 4 in the nation, is set to face Canisius College in a two-game series this weekend. The games will take place at the Lecom Harborcenter in Buffalo, New York, on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The Spartans, who currently hold a record of 3-1-0, recently played against Boston College. They split the home series with a loss of 0-3 and a win of 4-3. Notably, Charlie Stramel scored twice during their victory over Boston College, earning him recognition as the Big Ten Third Star of the Week.

Daniel Russell has emerged as a key player for Michigan State this season. He is tied with Isaac Howard for leading the team in goals and has been instrumental in securing victories for the Spartans. "Russell has scored the game-winning tally in each of MSU's victories," making him a national leader in that category.

Junior transfer Charlie Stramel's performance has been commendable since joining from Wisconsin. He nearly matched his goal total from last year within just four games this season.

Buffalo draft picks Patrick Geary and Maxim Štrbák have been consistent performers for Michigan State. Štrbák contributed significantly during their recent games and ranks second on the team for blocked shots. Geary, originally from Buffalo, was pivotal last season when he scored an overtime game-winning goal against Michigan.

This upcoming series marks a return trip for Michigan State after they first met Canisius last year in East Lansing. Both teams are looking forward to competing at Lecom Harborcenter with hopes of securing crucial wins early in the season.
