Michigan State University (MSU) is preparing for the 2024 football season opener against Florida Atlantic, scheduled for Friday, August 30, at 7 p.m. Classes and operational work will proceed with minimal disruption on that day.

Certain parking lots will be closed from 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, until 2 p.m. on Friday, August 30. These include Lot 62 and Lot 124 on the north side of IM Sports West and Spartan Stadium, Lot 61 on the west side of Spartan Stadium, and Lot 79 on the south side of Spartan Stadium. Other campus lots will remain available for faculty, staff, and students with valid permits until 1:00 p.m., after which access to all football pass lots will be restricted by MSU Police and Public Safety personnel.

Faculty and staff who need to leave during lunchtime should return before 1:00 p.m. to ensure re-entry or obtain employee passports from their departments for designated public lot parking at no cost. Donor lots reserved by MSU Athletics Department open at 2 p.m., while general football parking lots open at 3 p.m.

Due to ongoing road construction projects on US-127 and I-496 affecting campus exits, fans are advised to allow extra time to reach Spartan Stadium. Familiarity with new traffic patterns is recommended along with using GPS for alternate routes if necessary.

Public game day parking costs $30, while Lot 89 (commuter lot)/MSU Pavilion parking is $20 with a shuttle service starting two hours before the game. Tailgating is allowed in all public parking areas.

Spartan fans can receive gameday updates by texting SPARTANFB24 to 888777 for information including safety alerts, potential delays, traffic conditions, and parking details.
